is all about glazing an ordinary day with something unique, something with zest or sparkle, and suddenly it transforms into something extraordinary and you find yourself staring into the beautiful eye of tradition.
Labor day was always mostly an ordinary day for me, but now we have infused it with tradition. It's now become ours.
To the restaurant we went and filled ourselves with soft-crusted pizza and noodles.
And when Easton suggested we take funny pictures of ourselves, I knew this tradition would stick.
Later I went to the Dollar store where I purchased a few novel (and obviously inexpensive) gifts for each of us. Then hidden beneath a blanket, we rolled the dice and waited for the right numbers to appear. It was kind of a Christmas party game, but sometimes it's just fun to receive a gift "out of season."
I'm sure this game will evolve over the years, but it's now part of our Labor Day repertoire.
I love beginning new traditions...and continuing them.
