It was the evening of January 12 when it started snowing--more than we'd had all year. We prayed for it to stick and it did. The next morning we woke up to several inches.
So we declared a "Snow Day." I picked Tate up from kindergarten and checked Easton out of school. Then we bundled up and retreated out back to our very own Winter Wonderland.
My sweethearts had been waiting all winter to use the sleds that Papa bought them.
I think we went down those hills a hundred times that day.
Also, it was perfect packing snow for a snowman...snowbear.
We made "Chocolate" so large I could barely lift his middle. Easton had to get under and push up while I hoisted it. The head was almost as heavy.
He had two chocolates for eyes, a carrot nose, a drawn-in smile and a pink straw for a pipe.
Easton added ears. Pola had stolen Maylie's scarf and Tate's hat.
So we didn't give these items to our snow bear.
After we built our snow bear, we went inside for warm baths and warm berry juice.
January 13th will go down in history as the best day of our winter.
Back in November, as you may recall, I made a goal to make more snow memories with my children. Well, as it turns out, we were only blessed with two days of snow this year.
This beautiful snow only lasted a day.
But, truth be told, we made enough memories to last a whole winter. And I'm just so grateful we had one special snow day. My dream of a winter of snow memories can come true next year...
