Bits of Halloween.

I really wanted to make this holiday special this year.  It seems the boys are really growing up into an understanding of holidays with all of their accompanying excitement and glitter.  And while I've never been in love with Halloween (it's just too dark and scary), I want to hold on to the sweet parts of this holiday so my children can experience the holiday as I did growing up.

I made little spreadsheets in Excel for the upcoming holidays, to keep track of traditions, and dinners, and crafts, and gifts.  We checked almost everything off this year's Halloween list and rolled over the few games we didn't get to play for next year's traditions.  I love feeling the lift that results from a little bit of organization.

I found the boys Superman and Batman costumes/pajamas to wear and Nana helped me made the capes, and I made little Maylie a ladybug tutu.  I saw the glow in their eyes as they whisked around pretending to fly, and I remembered how I felt every Halloween when I put on my freshly handmade costume...it was like magic.  I hope it was for them just as it was for me.  And being a mother, watching the magic from the other end of the telescope is much more magical than even being a child.  I never could have imagined.
